Lee Sung Hee - Team Awesome Take on the The Cobbler

Saturday the 29th of May saw 24 members of the club brave the elements and the 2900 ft trek to the top of Ben Arthur (The Cobbler), to raise money for the Lee Sung Hee exchange programme. This hardy group, a few mountains short of being an elite climbing unit, made short work of the imposing climb. Aged from 5 to 50 the team set about the task with resolve and purpose and climbing experts Innes Benton and Cameron Wong deserve special mention as the group leaders.
Cameron Wong having led the expedition saw fit to make the mountain a little higher by adding another substantial rock to the top (one he carried from the foot of the mountain in his pocket no less), when asked why, he said “It was just too easy… it’s clearly too low” The triumphant Bunch then celebrated their successful climb and the cessation of rain that met their arrival on the top. Innes and Cameron then remembered they had a barbeque to organise so led the troops back down again in double quick time.

With full bellies and over a £1000 raised it was a truly exceptional effort and a fitting show of Taekwondo spirit. A privilege to be a part of. Where to next?
Awesome!
