Hilton Grosvenor Glasgow Supports the Sung Ee Exchange Programme
Hilton in the Community Foundation Supports Caledonian Taekwondo Community Fund initiatives.
Every year, the staff at the Hilton Glasgow Grosvenor set about raising funds for various local causes. This year despite the recession the hotel has managed to raise over a £1000.00 for local causes. This year’s recipients were Caledonian Taekwondo and Action for Children.

Each year Caledonian Taekwondo runs a sporting and cultural exchange programme with Pung Saeng High School, Seongnam South Korea. The programme commemorates the life of Lee Sung Lee, a young Pung Saeng student who tragically died of cancer aged just 16. In 2002 Lee Sung lee provided his home for six weeks to members of the Caledonian Team. The following year he was supposed to stay with members of Caledonian Taekwondo in Scotland for six weeks. The programme is now an annual tribute where we remember his life and times and celebrate the joy of the sport we share. A handful of lucky Scottish youngsters spend 6 weeks training in South Korea with some of the world’s finest athletes, then in August six Korean students come to Scotland to learn English and help our youngsters develop.
This allows us to provide expert tuition and coaching to our three hundred club members.
The support provided by the Hilton Charitable Foundation will allow Caledonian Taekwondo Community to purchase:
-
Some much needed sporting equipment
-
A projector to help teach the principles of the sport to a wider audience
-
Financial support for one Korean student during their 6 week stay in Glasgow this August
-
Financial support for one Scottish student during their 6 week development programme in Korea.
